These are software tools which are separate from the mainstream web analytics tools which overlay user behaviour in a heatmap or a clickmap.
There are two levels of solution:
Heatmap software showing user click behaviour
These are low-cost or no-cost software to help you identify where users click on a page in aggregate or in an individual session:
- Clickdensity Established tool based on Javascript
- Clicktale One of the most widely adopted tools - also offers form analytics
- Clickheat Newer? Open source tool
- Crazy Egg Widely acclaimed tool for conversion optimization and understanding visitor behaviour. It integrates with Google Analytics, so can see behaviour of referring segments, e.g. natural or paid search.
- ClixPy Relatively new tool in Clicktale mould with minimal information on site. I hate sites which don't give features lists but have to sign up to find out more...
Experience management solutions
At a different level these tools allow for detailed analysis of behaviour which can be integrated more closely with web analytics:
- Tealeaf A more sophisticated "experience management solution" for large sites.
- Speed Trap An established, UK-based solution
